Rev. Jeff Jacobs
From the Desk of Pastor Jeff Jacobs:
It was my privilege to serve West Koshkonong Lutheran Church as interim from January through September of 2001 (plus some last shut-in visits around Christmas time that year!).
I was able to take the position because I’d been on leave from call to help my mother care for my father following a brain injury he suffered in 1994. In the fall of 2000, though, we moved dad to a Verona nursing home, and I had my name in for a new call when South-Central Synod asked if I would take this assignment. I remember getting messed up on my directions and arriving late the first night I was to meet your Council – an inauspicious start, yet still an enjoyable experience with you through the months I served.
I dearly love the southern Wisconsin area, being born here Nov. 10, 1959, and growing up outside Verona. I graduated high school in 1977, received a bachelor’s in journalism in 1981 and master’s in English in 1983 from UW-Madison, and completed my master of divinity at Wartburg Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa, in 1987, being ordained Aug. 23 at St. James, Verona, my home parish.
My first call was associate pastor at Vernon, Mukwonago, from 1987 to 1992, and my second call was pastor at St. John-St. Paul, Mazomanie, from 1992 to 1997, until I took my leave for dad’s care. In the summer of 2001 I received the call to Springdale, Mt. Horeb, which I began in October. In 2010, West Blue Mounds, Blue Mounds, yoked with Springdale and I served this Two Steeples Parish until March 2018 when I moved to my current call in Iowa at the Maple Leaf, Lime Springs (Northeast Iowa Synod) and Saetersdal (Southeast Minnesota Synod) churches, a newly formed three-point parish. That is 3 separate congregations sharing me 😊.
I am single, but keep busy with my cats (all orange tabbies), settling into my parsonage (a long process after 20 years of “stuff” from my previous home) and exploring a new part of the country, yet also enjoying frequent visits home for family events (the three hours between Lime Springs and Verona get shorter each trip J).
Blessings to everyone at West Koshkonong as you celebrate a magnificent 175 years of ministry in your community!! Yours in Faith, Pastor Jeff Jacobs
