The Call committee, the Church Council and a few invited guests, met on Thursday, July 11, to introduce, Rev. Eric Bakken, the pastor we are recommending to be our new pastor.
The meeting was requested by this prospect so that he could get a feeling of our Church leaders and that they could see and hear from him also. Rev. Eric Bakken introduced himself and shared his background, talked about his family and why he is considering being our pastor. He shared some of his thoughts on how he looks at the role he would be taking in being a pastor on a Designated Part Time Basis. He answered questions that were put forth to him. He shared with us the importance of youth ministry and the need for more people getting involved in creating a new Ministry here at WKLC. He brings with him, much enthusiasm and experience from where he has been. Two days later, Rev. Eric Bakken agreed to be our next pastor. Presently Pastor Bakken has met with the council president, council treasurer and the call committee chairman, to establish his compensation and responsibilities. Once this is accepted by Rev. Bakken and approved by our bishop, we are on our way to having a new beginning at our church. Important dates to remember: On Thursday, August 1, there will be a MEET AND GREET POT LUCK in our fellowship hall to get acquainted with Rev. Bakken and his family. On Sunday, August 4, there will be a short congregational meeting following our 9:30 am worship service to vote on the call recommendation and proposed compensation package for Pastor Eric Bakken.

The snow and polar vortex slowed us down a little, but we have now received 48 surveys from congregation members. We're excited about this strong response to our requests about what the members believe is best for our church's future pastor. We missed a few meetings because of the weather but meet again this Wednesday to review all the surveys.
Happy New Year! While also celebrating holidays, the Call Committee carefully developed a congregational survey and sent it to 200 active members and all confirmed members. The cover is green, to differentiate from the regular yellow Parish Echoes newsletter. We're collecting surveys at church until 1/20/2019.
